Trump Halts Iran Strikes Amid Mockery, Hostilities Continue
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said he would stop new attacks on Iran.
He posted this on his social media account, saying Iran and other Middle Eastern countries asked him to pause.
Iranian news outlets laughed at him, calling him a fool and saying he was backing down.
They also said Iran did not ask for a pause and that their military is ready.
The fight between the US and Iran started with attacks on February 28, 2024, and the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway, has been closed.
Because of the fighting, oil prices have gone up.
Trump’s decision comes just before the US midterm elections, which could affect his political future.
Trump announced on Truth Social that he would hold off new strikes on Iran after being asked by Iran and other Middle Eastern countries.
Iranian media outlets mocked Trump, calling him a fool and claiming he backed down.
Iranian agencies denied that Iran requested a halt, labeling Trump’s claim a lie and saying Iran’s military remains on high alert.
The pause follows a conflict that began with US and Israel strikes on February 28, 2024.
The ongoing hostilities have kept the Strait of Hormuz closed and pushed global oil prices higher.
