Punjab High Court Orders CBI Probe Into Alleged Corruption

Punjab High Court Orders CBI Probe Into Alleged Corruption

A court in Punjab has asked India’s CBI to investigate claims of corruption involving people who work with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The court said the agency should register a criminal case and report back within two months.

One person under scrutiny is the chief minister’s aide, Rajbir Singh Ghuman.

The allegations also involve private intermediaries, including Nitin Gohal.

They include claims that money was exchanged for government favours.

The alleged favours involved job transfers, land-use permissions, arms licences, and access to confidential papers.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt.

The Aam Aadmi Party says its leaders have done nothing wrong.

It says central agencies are being used to attack the state government.
