Inventory of Puri Jagannath Temple's Valuables to Begin in 2026
The Puri Jagannath Temple in India is going to count all the valuable things stored in its treasury, called the Ratna Bhandar.
This is the first time in 45 years since the last count in 1978.
The temple's treasury was recently reopened after repairs.
A special committee will do the counting, which will start in early 2026.
They will use electric lights this time, which should make the process faster and easier.
The committee will also make sure that the counting does not disturb the daily rituals of the temple.
Everything will be recorded digitally.
The inventory of valuables in Puri Jagannath Temple's Ratna Bhandar is likely to begin in early 2026.
The last inventory was conducted in 1978 and took 72 days to complete.
The treasury was reopened in 2024 after four decades for repair works.
The committee will count all items in the treasury and digitize the ornaments and valuables.
The inventory will be conducted keeping in mind the temple's rituals and is expected to be completed in less than 72 days.
