RBI Infuses Rs 1.25 Lakh Crore
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced plans to add Rs 1.25 lakh crore to the financial system.
This money will come from different actions, like a special loan program, a currency exchange deal, and buying government bonds.
The RBI is doing this because there isn't enough money available in the banking system right now.
Banks need more money to lend, and the RBI wants to make sure everything runs smoothly.
The RBI has been adding money to the system since December and will keep doing so as needed.
Experts think more actions might be needed in March due to upcoming tax payments and pressure on the rupee.
The RBI announced liquidity measures to infuse Rs 1.25 lakh crore into the financial system.
Measures include a 90-day VRR operation of Rs 25,000 crore on January 30 and a three-year $/Rs buy/sell swap auction of $10 billion on February 4.
The RBI will purchase government securities worth Rs 1 lakh crore through OMOs on February 5 and 12.
Liquidity in the banking system has been shrinking, with average liquidity falling from Rs 1.78 lakh crore in November to Rs 57,121 crore in January.
Market participants expect more liquidity actions in March due to higher tax outflows and ongoing currency pressure.
