TMC MPs demand railway overbridges, MGNREGA funds
Some leaders from the Trinamool Congress party in India are asking the central government to build bridges over railway tracks in a place called Alipurduar.
They say this is important because people have a hard time crossing the tracks, especially when they need to go to hospitals or schools.
The leaders also say the central government owes a lot of money to the state of West Bengal for a program that gives people jobs.
They are protesting because they think the government is being unfair and not giving the money that is needed.
The leaders want the government to start building the bridges and give the money that is owed as soon as possible.
The central government says it is working on the procedures to resume the job program in West Bengal, but the funds have not been released yet.
TMC MPs demand construction of railway overbridges in Alipurduar to ease transport problems.
Delays in the project have caused hardships for residents, including difficulties in accessing hospitals and schools.
The district administration has granted the necessary NOC, but the work has not commenced.
TMC MPs allege discriminatory treatment and non-disbursal of Rs 52,000 crore under MGNREGA to West Bengal.
Protests were staged in Parliament complex over pending central dues, with TMC MPs claiming the Centre is starving the state to settle political scores.
