Bengal Search Expands After Nepal Flood Missing Count Rises

Bengal Search Expands After Nepal Flood Missing Count Rises

Floods and landslides happened in Nepal, and some people from West Bengal could not be contacted.

Officials first said 33 people were missing, with one later contacted.

A newer update said 39 people had initially been reported missing, two were traced, and 37 were still untraceable.

Because the numbers changed between updates, officials are continuing to check the records.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari spoke with families and promised government help.

West Bengal is working with Indian and Nepali authorities to search for the missing people.

It has opened control rooms and helplines for relatives.

The state may send a team to Kathmandu after receiving permission.

Some families may also get help travelling to Nepal or bringing relatives home.
