Rare Gandhi Portrait, One He Sat For, Heads to Auction
A special painting of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of India, is going up for auction.
This painting is unique because Gandhi actually sat down for the artist, Clare Leighton, to paint it in 1931 during his visit to London.
The artist's family says someone tried to damage the painting, but there is no proof.
It remained in Leighton's collection and is now being sold, potentially for a lot of money.
The auction will take place in July.
An oil portrait of Mahatma Gandhi is up for auction in London.
The painting was created in 1931 by Clare Leighton.
It's believed to be the only oil portrait Gandhi sat for.
The auction will be held at Bonhams from July 7-15.
