VMC to manage all city stadiums
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has decided to take control of all the city's stadiums and sports facilities.
This means they will no longer be managed by private agencies or individuals.
The VMC will hire gym coaches and physiotherapists to provide training at these facilities.
The decision was made to ensure that the sports facilities are well-maintained and that young people can get proper training.
The VMC has several major stadiums and gyms in the city, and this change is expected to help promote sports and fitness among the city's residents.
VMC will directly manage all indoor and outdoor stadiums, swimming pools, and gymnasiums in Vijayawada.
Two gym coaches and physiotherapists will be appointed at each facility for training and fitness.
Gym coaches will receive Rs.15,000 per month, while athletics coaches and physiotherapists will get Rs.25,000 per month.
The decision aims to ensure better utilization, transparency, and upkeep of sports infrastructure.
The resolution was originally proposed by 13th Division corporator Mummaneni Prasad and approved by the council last year.
