MBMC Protocol Breach Leads to Additional Commissioner’s Transfer
Mira-Bhayandar’s municipal government held events and printed invitation cards for them.
Rules said officials had to check the cards before they were printed.
An inquiry found that this did not happen for two events.
It also said one card did not give Minister Pratap Sarnaik the required place in the order of names.
A five-member committee reviewed the issue and submitted its report on July 20, 2026.
After the report, the Maharashtra government transferred Additional Commissioner Priyanka Rajput to another municipal corporation.
The report also led to a disciplinary note against City Engineer Deepak Khambit.
The minister said officials should follow protocol rules at government events.
Maharashtra transferred Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Priyanka Rajput to the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation as Deputy Commissioner.
The inquiry concerned invitation cards for an April 15, 2026 sports complex inauguration and a May 5, 2026 Labor Day felicitation ceremony.
Investigators found the cards were finalized without required protocol review and approval.
The sports complex invitation did not give Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik the placement and protocol priority required by his seniority.
