Water Board Fines Five In Jubilee Hills, Warns Of Disconnection

The water board fined five people in Jubilee Hills for wasting drinking water.

Some people were washing floors or vehicles with water meant for drinking.

Leaving taps running and ignoring overflowing tanks were also violations.

The fines were between ₹5,000 and ₹20,000.

The board said a second violation could lead to the water supply being disconnected.

Officials will conduct surprise inspections to find more waste.

They said leaks on the 15,000-kilometre pipeline network would be repaired within 24 hours after being reported.

The board wants people to save water because rainfall has been affected by El Niño, reservoirs are running dry, and city demand is increasing.
