Punjab Transfers Power Secretary Amidst Friction with Minister
Imagine the boss of the electricity company and the minister in charge of electricity couldn't agree on important decisions.
The boss, who is an officer named Ajoy, felt the minister was trying to make decisions that were not his to make.
The minister, Sanjeev, wanted to sell some of the company's land and change how things were done with giving out jobs.
Because they kept disagreeing, the government decided to move Ajoy to a different job.
Now, a new person named Basant will handle the electricity department.
This kind of disagreement happens sometimes when people in charge have different ideas on how to run things.
IAS officer Ajoy Kumar Sinha has been removed as the administrative secretary of Punjab's power department and CMD of PSPCL and PSTCL.
Basant Garg has been assigned the charge of the power department, replacing Sinha.
Sinha's transfer follows alleged disagreements with Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora over transfers, tenders, and land sales.
Sources suggest Sinha was resisting several decisions of the minister, who is considered close to the AAP leadership.
Unions and associations of power engineers and employees have reportedly opposed the government's plan to sell off corporation land.
