MCX Relaunches Cardamom Futures Contracts
Imagine a marketplace where people buy and sell the future price of spices, like cardamom.
The Multi-Commodity Exchange of India, or MCX, is opening up this marketplace again for cardamom.
They are starting with contracts for the next few months.
This allows people who grow cardamom to lock in a price and protect themselves.
If the price of cardamom goes down, they are protected.
The trading unit will be in 100 kg with some margin rules to control risk.
It gives farmers a platform to sell export-quality cardamom and could make prices more stable in the real world.
MCX has relaunched cardamom futures contracts.
Contracts are available for August, September, and October.
The trading unit is 100 kg.
The delivery center is in Vandanmedu, Idukki.
The initial margin will be a minimum of 10 percent.
