Comcast Co-CEO Designate Eyes Streaming, Studio M&A
Imagine Comcast is like a big toy company.
The person who might become the new boss, Mike Cavanagh, said that if Comcast were to buy other toy companies, they would be most interested in ones that make TV shows and movies, or ones that stream content online.
He mentioned that after they finish sorting out some of their own business parts (called Versant spinoff), they might have more options to buy these kinds of companies than people think.
He also said that they have to be very sure about any deal because they already have many good businesses.
But, they will keep looking at companies in their industry to see if they can make them even better by joining forces.
Comcast's Co-CEO designate Mike Cavanagh expressed interest in M&A involving streaming and studio assets.
Cavanagh stated that Comcast's bar is very high for pursuing M&A, given confidence in current businesses.
He indicated that more M&A options in streaming and studio assets may become viable for Comcast after the Versant spinoff.
Comcast aims to explore opportunities to add value within its industry through potential acquisitions.
Cavanagh highlighted existing value creation through initiatives like the Versant spin, pairing Peacock with NBC, attracting the NBA, and theme park launches.
