Bhopal Traders, Residents Clash Over Commercial Outlets in Homes
Some shops in Bhopal are located in areas meant mainly for homes.
The municipal corporation has started taking action against these businesses.
Traders say closing the shops could affect many workers and families.
They want the government to create a solution, such as allowing businesses to continue under new rules.
One traders’ group pointed to Gujarat, where some commercial activity was regularised after fees were paid.
Residents have a different concern.
They say the shops create problems for peace, order, and safety in their neighbourhoods.
They want the shops moved to proper commercial areas.
Both groups protested in Bhopal on Wednesday, including during heavy rain.
Bhopal traders protested against the municipal drive to close businesses operating in residential areas.
