UP Files Case Against 12 More Firms in Cough Syrup Smuggling
The food and drugs department in Uttar Pradesh, India, has filed a case against 12 more pharmaceutical companies.
These companies are suspected of being involved in the illegal smuggling of cough syrup containing codeine.
Earlier, the department had already filed a case against 26 other companies.
When the department investigated these 12 new companies, they found that some were closed or had different businesses operating at the same addresses.
The department sent notices to these companies asking for explanations, but since the companies did not respond, the department decided to file a case against them at the Kotwali police station in Varanasi.
