Chandigarh Ends Lease with Tennis Body Over Complex Operations
The Chandigarh government has ended its agreement with the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) for the tennis complex.
This means the government will now run the complex itself.
The agreement ended because the CLTA wasn't following the rules.
They were renting out parts of the complex, running a shop without permission, and had problems with how they were paying the government.
The government tried to talk to the CLTA about these problems, but the CLTA did not provide sufficient explanation.
The tennis complex was originally built in 1979 and has hosted important tennis events.
Now, the government's sports department will take over and manage the complex.
Chandigarh Administration terminated lease with CLTA for Sector 10 Tennis Complex.
The lease, renewed in 2022, concluded on September 10, 2024.
Termination was due to subletting, operational issues, and payment discrepancies.
CLTA was given seven days to end activities before the takeover.
The Chandigarh sports department will manage the complex.
