Ahmedabad's Green Push: Reviving and Expanding Parks
Ahmedabad, a city known for its gardens, is working hard to make more green spaces for everyone.
They are fixing old parks like Victoria Garden and Sardar Baug, and creating new ones called Oxygen Parks.
These parks have walking paths, places to exercise, and even spots to sit and relax.
The city is also cleaning up lakes and turning them into beautiful gardens.
To do all this, the city is working with private companies to help take care of these places.
People in Ahmedabad are happy because these parks give them a nice place to spend time outdoors.
Ahmedabad is reviving historic gardens like Victoria Garden and Sardar Baug, adding modern amenities such as jogging tracks and open gyms.
The city has developed 319 Oxygen Parks using the Miyawaki method, creating urban forests with dense plantations.
A biodiversity park on the riverfront, developed in 2020, features a nature trail and various species of birds and trees.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is freeing lakes from encroachments and redeveloping them into gardens, with 42 lakes given to UNM Foundation under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
New parks are being planned with water bodies, gazebos, walking trails, open gyms, and children’s play areas to cater to all age groups.
