Man Arrested for Stealing Cars He Sold Online
A 24-year-old man named Mamadou Diallo was arrested for a clever but bad trick.
He sold used cars on Facebook Marketplace, gave fake papers, and then stole the cars back from the new owners.
He did this eight times in two months, always selling the same two cars.
One time, a woman saw him steal her car just seven hours after she bought it.
The police caught him, and he is in big trouble.
He could go to prison for up to 98 years if he is found guilty.
He is in jail right now and has to pay $30,000 to get out.
His next court date is January 27.
Mamadou Diallo, 24, sold used cars on Facebook Marketplace and then stole them back from buyers.
He used the name Yabebal Cherinet on social media and provided fake titles and bills of sale.
Eight victims reported their cars stolen within 24 hours of purchase, all involving the same two vehicles.
Diallo faces 14 felony counts, with a maximum sentence of 98 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
He is currently in custody at the Jackson County Detention Center on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
