Bengaluru Lakes Fill Up After Heavy Pre-Monsoon Rains
Bengaluru has had a lot of rain lately, and it's filled up many of the city's lakes.
Out of nearly 200 lakes, over 60 are now completely full.
Some areas like Yelahanka and R.R. Nagar have seen the most lakes fill up.
The city is cleaning up the areas around the lakes to prevent problems.
However, one expert says that just filling lakes with any water isn't good enough, because the water is polluted.
They want to find ways to get clean rainwater to the lakes.
Right now, a lot of the lake water isn't good for much except watering plants or use in factories.
63 out of 183 lakes in Bengaluru have reached full capacity.
Yelahanka has 19 lakes filled to capacity, followed by R.R. Nagar with 16.
Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli also reported significant lake filling.
BBMP has deployed cleaning teams to clear canals and surroundings.
Environmentalist states filling lakes with polluted water is not an achievement.
