Supreme Court Acquits Man in 1993 Corruption Case

The Supreme Court reviewed a corruption case that began in 1993.

The case involved claims that fake bills were submitted for medicines that were never delivered.

The alleged loss to the government was Rs 5,97,200.

Several people were charged, and some were convicted by lower courts.

The man who appealed was convicted by the Gauhati High Court.

The Supreme Court said there was no proof that he received a financial benefit.

It also said investigators had not properly followed the money trail.

The court therefore cancelled his conviction and ordered his release if he was not needed in another case.
