Indian Techie Says Family Separation Is Hardest Part Abroad

Indian Techie Says Family Separation Is Hardest Part Abroad

Abhradeep Chatterjee moved from India to the United States for work in 2015.

He thought he might stay only for a while, but he built a career and a family there.

He now lives in Minnesota with his wife and young daughter.

His parents still live in India, and he says being far from them is the hardest part of living abroad.

He has not been back to India since he moved and has missed important family events.

Video calls help him stay in touch, but he says they are not the same as being together.

Visa rules can also make travel harder to arrange.

He is waiting for an employer-sponsored green card and says the process may take years.

If he had to leave the US, he says he would return to India.
