Indian Pharma Exports Surge to $4.9 Billion in Recent Months
Imagine India making lots of medicine and sending it all over the world.
In the first two months of this year, India sold almost $5 billion worth of medicine!
That's more than last year, especially for things like medicine you take as a liquid or pill, and vaccines.
The United States buys the most of these medicines from India.
India is also working on deals with other countries, like the UK, to make it easier to sell medicine and hopefully bring in more money and investment.
Indian pharmaceutical exports reached $4.9 billion in April-May FY26, a 7.38% increase year-over-year.
Formulations and biologicals accounted for 75.74% of total pharma exports.
Vaccine exports grew by 13.64% and reached $190.13 million.
The US remains the top export destination, representing 34.5% of total pharma exports.
The India-UK Free Trade Agreement is expected to enhance supply chains and attract investment.
