Kolkata Police Equips Horses with AC Stables Amidst Soaring Heat
The Kolkata Police are making sure their horses stay cool in the hot weather.
They've added air-conditioned stables to help the horses avoid getting too hot, like we might feel in summer.
The police noticed some horses were getting sick because of the heat, so they took action.
Now, horses have AC, ice baths, and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Vets also check on the horses and provide special food.
This helps keep them healthy and ready to work, even when it's scorching outside.
The police also changed the horses' work schedule to avoid the hottest times of day.
Four new AC stables were inaugurated at the Police Training School in Alipore for Kolkata Police horses.
The initiative followed an incident in May where horses fell ill due to heat exhaustion.
AC stables, along with ice baths, are used to provide a healing experience for the horses.
Horses receive at least 20-25 liters of water daily, and their patrol timings have been modified.
Vets monitor the horses and provide digestible fodder and emergency care.
