PPF Contributions Could Build ₹55 Lakh by Child’s Age 18
PPF is a government-backed savings scheme that can help parents save for a child’s future.
Parents can open an account for a child and contribute regularly.
If ₹1.5 lakh is invested every year for 18 years at 7.1%, the account could grow to more than ₹55.14 lakh.
The money may be invested once a year or in monthly payments of ₹12,500.
Smaller yearly investments of ₹1 lakh or ₹50,000 could also grow to sizeable amounts.
If the child continues investing the same amount after turning 18, the savings could become much larger by age 60.
PPF accounts normally run for 15 years but can be extended in five-year periods.
These figures are projections based on the stated interest rate and contribution schedule.
Investing ₹1.5 lakh annually in PPF for 18 years at 7.1% is projected to create a corpus of more than ₹55.14 lakh.
The ₹1.5 lakh yearly contribution can be made as a lump sum or as ₹12,500 monthly, according to the calculations.
Annual investments of ₹1 lakh and ₹50,000 could grow to more than ₹36.76 lakh and ₹18.38 lakh, respectively, by age 18.
If contributions continue for another 42 years, the ₹1.5 lakh plan is projected to produce a retirement corpus of more than ₹6.75 crore at age 60.
PPF accounts have a 15-year lock-in and can be extended in five-year blocks, with or without new contributions.
