Maharashtra Transport Disrupted by MoRTH Directive
There's a big problem in Maharashtra where trucks and other big vehicles can't get their fitness certificates checked.
This is because the government said that only special testing stations (ATS) can do these checks, but there aren't enough of these stations.
So, many vehicles can't get their certificates, which means they can't drive.
This is causing big problems for people who deliver food, fuel, and other important things.
The government is trying to fix this, but until then, many people are having a hard time.
Fitness certification for commercial vehicles has halted in several Maharashtra districts due to a MoRTH directive issued on December 26, 2025.
The directive revoked manual fitness testing access on the Parivahan system in districts with operational Automated Testing Stations (ATS).
Only one ATS facility is currently operational in Nashik, causing long distances for vehicle testing.
The disruption has affected supply chains and caused financial losses for operators, with small and medium transport operators being the worst hit.
The transport community has appealed for urgent intervention, including temporary relaxations or expedited ATS rollout.
