Maharashtra Cabinet Waives Stamp Duty on Renewable Land Transfers

Maharashtra Cabinet Waives Stamp Duty on Renewable Land Transfers

The government of Maharashtra, a state in India, held an important meeting.

The leader of the state, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was in charge of this meeting.

They decided to make it easier and cheaper for companies to build renewable energy projects like solar power.

Normally, people have to pay a tax called stamp duty when land is transferred.

The Cabinet said companies do not have to pay this tax when they move land within their own company group for clean energy projects.

They also gave a 25 per cent discount on transfer fees for land bought for renewable energy.

This will help the state add 16,000 MW of renewable energy, including solar power for farmers.

The farmers will get reliable daytime electricity for irrigation.

The Cabinet also approved money for a sugar factory and new rules for colleges.

These decisions are meant to boost clean energy and help farmers.
