Manipur's Ongoing Ethnic Conflict and Resettlement Efforts
In Manipur, India, there has been a lot of fighting between two groups, the Meitei and Kuki communities, since May 2023.
This has caused many people to leave their homes and live in relief camps.
The government has helped about 10,000 people return to their homes and is building more houses for others.
However, the situation is still very tense, and many people are still afraid to go back.
The government is trying to make sure everyone has what they need, like healthcare and jobs, but it's not easy.
Both the President and the Prime Minister have visited Manipur and asked people to live together in peace.
But even with all these efforts, the fighting and the problems in Manipur are not getting better.
Ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki communities has displaced over 50,000 people since May 2023.
The government has resettled 10,000 displaced people and is building 4,000 more houses for resettlement.
A Rs 573 crore package was announced for resettlement and rehabilitation in the 2025-26 budget.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur, urging peace and unity.
The situation remains tense, with ongoing security issues and economic challenges due to the conflict.
