Ek Chitra Brings Interdisciplinary Art Space to Hyderabad’s Cultural Scene
Annapurna Madipadiga has opened a new art gallery called Ek Chitra in Hyderabad.
She grew up around art because her father was an artist.
Although she first studied commerce, she later chose to study fine arts.
She worked as an artist and curator before opening the gallery.
Ek Chitra is designed for many kinds of art, not just paintings.
It can hold sculptures, photographs, performances, textiles, ceramics and other projects.
The gallery also has a special studio for printmaking.
Annapurna hopes the space will help artists and audiences meet, learn and experience art together.
Annapurna Madipadiga has inaugurated Ek Chitra, a new art gallery in Hyderabad.
The gallery aims to address the city’s lack of a large, multidisciplinary arts platform.
Its flexible spaces can host painting, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, installations, performances and other forms.
Ek Chitra includes a permanent printmaking studio supporting learning, engagement and artistic exchange.
Planned initiatives include the living temple programme, Keerthanam and the Baoli Art Sangam biennale.
