India-Nepal Joint Military Exercise Begins
Exercise Suryakiran XIX is a big practice session between the Indian Army and the Nepal Army.
It started in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, and will last until December 8th.
Both countries are sending 334 soldiers each.
They will practice fighting terrorism, working together in jungles and mountains, helping people in disasters, and using new technologies like drones and robots.
This exercise helps them learn from each other and work better together, especially in peacekeeping missions.
It also helps strengthen the friendship between India and Nepal.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has also started a special training called AMAR at very high altitudes to prepare soldiers for close combat in tough conditions.
Exercise Suryakiran XIX 2025 commenced in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday, November 25, and will conclude on December 8.
The Indian contingent consists of 334 personnel, mainly from the Assam Regiment, while the Nepal side is represented by 334 personnel, mainly from the Devi Datta Regiment.
The exercise aims to rehearse sub-conventional operations under the United Nations Mandate, focusing on counter-terrorism, jungle warfare, and humanitarian assistance.
Emerging technologies such as Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), drone-based ISR, and AI-enabled decision support tools will be incorporated to refine tactics for counter-terrorism operations.
The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, reduce risks, and foster strong bilateral relations between India and Nepal.
