Israel Rejects Macron Visit Over Palestinian State Plans
France's president, Emmanuel Macron, is not welcome in Israel.
This is because Israel's foreign minister, Gideon Sa’ar, is upset about France planning to recognize Palestine as a country.
Sa’ar told France to stop these plans during a phone call with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot.
He believes that this recognition could make the Middle East less stable and hurt Israel.
So, until France changes its mind, Macron can't visit.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said French President Emmanuel Macron is not welcome.
The rejection is due to France's plans to recognize a Palestinian state.
Sa’ar discussed the issue with French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot.
Sa’ar wants France to drop its recognition of Palestinian statehood.
Israel believes the French initiative harms its interests.
