India Key Growth Market for Global Brands in June Quarter
India’s June quarter was a big win for global brands because people in India keep buying things even when prices go up.
Experts say Indian food and drink companies can grow their sales a lot next year, but the amount of stuff people buy might grow a little slower because of higher costs.
A Flexi Capital manager said that to keep buying going, the government should help farmers earn more, build better roads and jobs outside farms, and keep prices low.
If these things happen, India will stay the best place in the world for people to spend money.
India’s June‑quarter performance highlights its growing importance as a resilient consumption market amid uneven global demand and higher input costs.
CRISIL forecasts organized FMCG companies to achieve 8–10% revenue growth in FY27, while volume growth may slow to 2–3% due to inflation and commodity costs.
Nasser Salim of Flexi Capital stresses that sustaining India’s consumer boom requires boosting rural incomes, farm productivity, rural infrastructure, and non‑farm jobs.
He warns that rising costs could moderate FMCG volume growth, making stronger rural purchasing power essential for continued consumption growth.
The report suggests India’s consumer story will stay the world’s strongest if future growth stems from rural income gains, job creation, and low inflation.
