Study Links Regular Stair Climbing With Lower Heart Risk

A large review of studies looked at whether climbing stairs is linked to better heart health.

It included more than 480,000 adults from nine studies.

People who climbed stairs regularly had a lower risk of dying from heart disease.

They also had a lower risk of dying from any cause during the studies.

This does not mean stairs alone prevent every heart problem.

Young people can also have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or other heart risks.

Eating fewer processed foods, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep can help protect the heart.

Chest pressure, trouble breathing, sweating or pain spreading to the arm or jaw should be checked urgently by a medical professional.
