DFCCIL Seeks Additional Wagons for Growing Truck-on-Train Service Demand
Imagine trucks that need to travel long distances for delivering goods, like milk.
Instead of driving the whole way on busy roads, they can now ride on a special train!
This is called a 'truck-on-train' service.
It's much faster and helps save the environment.
Because so many companies like this idea, they want to use it even more and for other places.
But, to carry more trucks, the train needs more special train cars, called wagons.
The company running the train has asked for these new wagons, but they haven't gotten them yet.
They are waiting so they can help more trucks travel safely and quickly.
DFCCIL has requested additional wagons from the Railway Board for its truck-on-train service.
The truck-on-train service transports trucks and milk tankers on specially designed wagons between Rewari and Palanpur.
The service, launched in September 2023, significantly reduces transit time, costs, and pollution.
DFCCIL needs specially designed Flat Multi-Purpose (FMP) wagons to meet growing business demand and expand the service to other locations.
The Railway Board has not yet fulfilled the request, although new FMP wagons are expected to be manufactured starting early next year.

Wagon Requirements
DFCCIL Perspective
DFCCIL requires specially designed Flat Multi-Purpose (FMP) wagons to fully tap the growing business potential of the truck-on-train (ToT) service and to expand to other destinations.
Railway Board Perspective
The Railway Board currently uses Bogie Rail Wagons for ToT services, acknowledging that FMP wagons are more suitable for DFCCIL's business model. New FMP wagons are expected to be manufactured with deliveries starting early next year.
Service Expansion
DFCCIL Perspective
DFCCIL is experiencing high demand for its ToT service and has requests from various industries to operate similar services from other locations, but this is contingent on receiving FMP wagons.
