Mayawati Backs Gen Alpha Protests Over School Amenities
Mayawati said schoolchildren are protesting because their schools lack basic facilities.
These facilities include buildings, teachers, drinking water, toilets and cleanliness.
She said children should be learning and playing instead of protesting in the streets.
She supported the nationwide “School Thik Karo” campaign mentioned in the report.
The campaign is associated with the Cockroach Janta Party.
Mayawati blamed governments for not improving government schools enough.
She also said many government schools are being closed.
Protests have recently taken place in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati backed recent protests by schoolchildren and parents seeking basic educational facilities and infrastructure.
She described students taking to the streets for elementary-school necessities as a matter of “great sorrow and concern.”
Mayawati said deteriorating school conditions, especially in Uttar Pradesh and northern India, had made Gen Alpha increasingly vocal.
She alleged that governments have neglected government schools and that thousands of schools are being closed.
