Opposition Demands Action Over Tamil Nadu Festive Transport Fare Surge

Many people in Tamil Nadu wanted to travel home during a three-day holiday.

Reports said some private buses and airlines charged much more than usual.

Some critics said bus companies cancelled cheap tickets and resold seats at higher prices.

They cited fares as high as Rs 6,154 to Coimbatore and Rs 4,000 to Madurai.

Political parties asked the state and central governments to act.

Their requests included fare limits, extra buses and trains, and action against violators.

Congress also asked the Civil Aviation Ministry to stop dynamic airline fares during festivals.

The report mainly presents criticism and demands for government action.
