Typhoid Leads India’s Confirmed Monsoon Fever Test Positivity

PharmEasy studied fever test results from 209 Indian cities during the monsoon.

Typhoid had the highest share of positive tests, with about one in four tests positive.

Dengue had fewer positive tests, followed by chikungunya and malaria.

Typhoid can spread through unsafe food and contaminated water, not just mosquitoes.

This means clean drinking water, safe food and good sanitation are important during rainy weather.

Seven of the 10 high-risk cities were mainly affected by typhoid signals.

Gwalior and Amritsar had the strongest typhoid laboratory signals in the data.

Overall fever risk increased as rainfall and weather conditions changed.

The company said its data shows risk patterns, not a diagnosis or a count of individual cases.
