Maharashtra Shifts Teacher Selection to MSEC
The Maharashtra government has decided that the Maharashtra State Examination Council (MSEC) will now handle the selection of teachers who pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
Before this, the Commissioner of Education's office was responsible for this task, but it was getting too much work to handle.
The MSEC will now take care of everything from checking the candidates to selecting them.
This change is happening because the backlog of teacher hiring was growing, and the Commissioner's office needed to focus on other important education policies.
The MSEC will also be in charge of a new survey called the Teacher Eligibility and Intelligence Survey 2025.
