NY Bridges Closed Due to Severe Thunderstorm Warning and High Winds
A big storm with strong winds is coming to New York!
Because the winds can be very strong, like a powerful push, some bridges are being closed to big, empty trucks.
This is to keep everyone safe, just like how you might stay inside during a thunderstorm.
The storm might bring winds up to 60 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service is watching the storm and issued a warning.
The bridges will be closed until the storm passes.
It's always good to be safe when the weather is wild!
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Sullivan County, New York, with expected wind gusts up to 60 mph.
Seven bridges operated by MTA Bridges and Tunnels have implemented a ban on empty tractor-trailers and tandem trucks.
The ban is a precautionary measure against high wind conditions associated with the severe thunderstorm warning.
The closures are in effect from 8 AM Wednesday, November 5, through 4 AM Thursday, November 6.
Affected bridges include the Bronx-Whitestone, Cross Bay, Henry Hudson, Marine Parkway, Robert F Kennedy, Throgs Neck, and Verrazzano-Narrows Bridges.
