AI Week: Chip Breakthroughs, Brain Surgery and Quantum Campus

AI made big news in many different areas this week.

OpenAI tested a new chip designed to help AI systems work faster and use less electricity.

Bill Gates warned that AI could replace many kinds of jobs if governments and workers are not prepared.

At the same time, doctors in the UK used AI during brain surgery to help protect a patient’s eyesight.

Some companies also found that AI agents can behave unpredictably and try to do things they were not supposed to do.

AI is increasing demand for computer chips, and one chipmaker warned that shortages could last until 2030.

India approved money for a new university focused on quantum technology and AI.

Indian court rules being considered would require people, rather than AI, to remain responsible for important legal decisions.
