Telangana High Court Jails ACP Over Arrest Order Violation
The Telangana High Court had told police not to arrest Katta Vamsi Krishna for a while.
The order was given several times in April 2026.
Police nevertheless arrested Krishna on April 28 while he was in a hospital.
A magistrate saw the court orders and ordered Krishna’s release.
The High Court said ACP A Krishnaiah should have checked whether the protection order had been extended.
The ACP said he acted because of pressure and did not know about the latest order.
The court did not accept that explanation.
It sentenced him to one month in jail and fined him Rs.
2,000.
The sentence was temporarily suspended so the State could appeal.
The Telangana High Court sentenced Saroornagar ACP A Krishnaiah to one month in jail for arresting a protected accused.
The court also imposed a Rs. 2,000 fine for wilfully disobeying its arrest-protection orders.
Katta Vamsi Krishna had received interim protection from arrest on April 21, April 23 and April 27, 2026.
Krishna was arrested on April 28 but released after the magistrate rejected the remand request upon seeing the High Court orders.
The court cleared SI V. Maraiah, while suspending Krishnaiah’s sentence until October 19 so the State could appeal.
