Congress Stages Statewide Protest Over Sugar Prices, PDS Shortages

The Congress party held protests across Chhattisgarh about the rising price of sugar.

They called the protest ‘Chini Satyagraha.’

Congress leaders said sugar was missing from many government ration shops.

They claimed families were paying Rs 60–70 per kilogram in regular markets.

They also said gram and jaggery had been unavailable for months in Bastar and Surguja.

The party blamed the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state for failing to control inflation.

Congress demanded that sugar supplies return to all ration shops.

It said protests could become bigger if the problem was not fixed.
