CJI Outlines Urgent Hearing Procedure
The Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, has set up a new way for lawyers to ask for urgent hearings during the court's vacation.
Instead of asking the court directly, lawyers should give their reasons to the Supreme Court Registry.
The Registry will check these reasons and, if they are important, the case will be listed for hearing on December 26 or 29.
This is to make sure that urgent cases are heard quickly even when the court is on holiday.
The Chief Justice also said he might sit on December 22 to hear urgent cases.
CJI Surya Kant asked lawyers to approach the Supreme Court Registry for urgent hearings during vacation.
The Registry will scrutinize the reasons and list matters accordingly for December 26 or 29.
The special vacation bench was constituted to hear urgent cases requiring immediate judicial intervention.
The Chief Justice indicated willingness to sit on December 22 to hear urgent cases.
The procedure aims to ensure timely consideration of pressing matters during the Supreme Court's vacation period.
