India's Q2 GDP Growth Surges to 8.2%
India's economy grew by 8.2% in the July-September quarter, which is the highest growth in six quarters.
This growth was driven by strong consumer spending and manufacturing activity.
The secondary sector, which includes industries like manufacturing and construction, grew by 8.1%, while the tertiary sector, which includes services like finance and real estate, grew by 9.2%.
The manufacturing sector saw a significant growth of 9.1%, and the construction sector grew by 7.2%.
The financial, real estate, and professional services sector also saw a strong growth of 10.2%.
However, the agriculture sector grew by only 3.5%.
The strong GDP growth has led to a surge in the stock market, with the Sensex and Nifty reaching new highs.
The government's fiscal deficit has widened to 52.6% of the annual target in the first seven months of the fiscal year, due to higher capital expenditure and contracting net tax revenues.
Economists have mixed views on the future growth prospects, with some expecting a slowdown due to high base effect and global trade issues, while others believe that the growth momentum will continue.
