BWSSB to Expand Sewage Treatment Capacity by 470 MLD
Bengaluru's water board, BWSSB, is building 26 new sewage treatment plants (STPs) to clean more dirty water.
They plan to add enough capacity to treat 470 million liters of sewage daily by the end of 2025.
This is part of a plan to treat more sewage and reuse the clean water for things other than drinking, like watering plants and filling lakes.
Currently, there isn't enough demand for treated water.
Even with the new STPs, there might still be too much untreated sewage.
New projects in 110 villages will also help.
The BWSSB is getting money from the World Bank to build these new facilities.
BWSSB plans to add 470 MLD sewage treatment capacity by the end of 2025.
This expansion includes 26 new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
The largest STP will be at Vrishabhavathi Valley with a 150 MLD capacity.
14 STPs are being built in 110 villages with new water connections.
The project aims to treat more sewage for non-drinking purposes and water conservation.
