Samagra Portal Breach Puts Madhya Pradesh Citizens’ Data At Risk

Samagra Portal Breach Puts Madhya Pradesh Citizens’ Data At Risk

Madhya Pradesh has a website called the Samagra portal that stores information about the state’s citizens.

Officials say it contains records for about 8 crore people.

A person’s information was changed even though authorized district officers did not make the change.

This led officials to report the matter to cyber police.

The portal is used for benefits such as pensions, scholarships, ration support and employment assistance.

People also need a Samagra ID for school admissions.

The system includes family relationships and records of births and deaths.

Officials have increased security while police look for the people responsible.

They are also trying to learn whether the breach was done to cause harm or to earn money.
