Reading Session on Malala and Anne Frank Allegedly Disrupted

A group in Ahmedabad held a public reading of books by several writers.

The books included works by Malala Yousafzai and Anne Frank.

The reading was organized after a school removed some of those books from its required reading list.

The school had faced protests from Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

The organizers said about 30 people came to the garden.

They alleged that the group had iron rods and sticks.

The organizers also said some people were attacked and six were injured.

The report identifies the attackers only as people who claimed to be Bajrang Dal members.
