Karnataka HC Rejects Husband's Divorce Plea
The Karnataka High Court recently made a big decision about marriage.
A husband wanted to divorce his wife because he said he was no longer interested in the marriage.
But the court said no.
The judges explained that in Hindu law, marriage is not like a contract that you can break when you want.
It's a lifelong promise.
The couple had been married for almost 21 years and have a grown-up daughter.
The wife said she had always taken care of her husband and his parents and never wanted to separate.
The court agreed with the wife and said the husband couldn't just walk away from the marriage because he lost interest.
The Karnataka High Court dismissed a husband's appeal for divorce, stating that Hindu marriage is a lifelong bond and not a contract.
The couple had been married for nearly 21 years and have a daughter who is almost an adult.
The Family Court had earlier dismissed the husband's divorce petition and granted the wife's plea for restitution of conjugal rights.
The husband argued that the marriage had irretrievably broken down and he had no interest in continuing the relationship.
The court found that the husband failed to establish cruelty as a ground for divorce and upheld the Family Court's order.
