India Begins Historic Relocation of 30,000 Government Employees
The Indian government is moving about 30,000 employees to new buildings in Delhi as part of a big makeover.
This is a major move, even bigger than when government offices were first built in the 1930s.
Several important departments are being relocated to a new building on Kartavya Path, including those for Home Affairs and Rural Development.
The buildings they are leaving, like North and South Block, will be turned into a bigger National Museum.
However, the Finance Ministry won't be moving yet, so they will continue to work from their current location for now.
This is all part of a plan to modernize the government's offices.
The Indian government is relocating approximately 30,000 employees to new buildings on Kartavya Path.
Ministries, including Home Affairs and Rural Development, will be moving to Building 3 (CCS-03).
The relocation is part of the Central Vista renovation project in New Delhi.
North Block and South Block will be converted into an expanded National Museum.
The Finance Ministry will not be relocating initially, and the next budget will be presented from North Block.
