Namma Metro Phase 3A: Cost Cuts and Station Size Changes
Imagine building a new subway line in Bengaluru.
The original plan was very expensive.
To make it cheaper, the builders are making some changes.
They're shortening the underground stations, which helps save money.
The platform where the trains stop will stay the same length, so passengers likely won't notice much difference.
This is because the initial cost was higher than similar projects elsewhere.
They are working to find the most efficient solution.
BMRCL is modifying the design of Namma Metro's Phase 3A (Red Line) to reduce costs.
Underground stations will be shortened by about 40 meters, resulting in a Rs 2,920 crore cost reduction.
The project's original cost was deemed too high by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
The platform lengths will remain unchanged to accommodate six-coach trains.
BMRCL has started preliminary groundwork, including geotechnical investigations.
