Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations Draw Visitors To Vijayawada’s Gandhi Hill
People in Vijayawada gathered at Gandhi Hill to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
The event marked his 157th birth anniversary.
Gandhi Hill and its planetarium were open for free to visitors and students.
Planetarium shows were held every hour during the day.
Speakers encouraged young people to practise truth, peace, non-violence and service.
Students who won competitions received prizes.
Organisers also released two books about Gandhi and his connection with Vijayawada.
The celebrations included gardening demonstrations, composting, artwork and tributes to Gandhi.
